Several years ago some kind of Christian coalition came up with the idea that by modifying the scriptures so that they would read as modern text that they would be easier to read and better understood. Their declared purpose was to encourage more youth to read and understand the scriptures. These modern scriptures would replace the old English translation as they were interpreted directly from the Greek and Hebrew. Every time the scriptures or any other document is translated anew, more and more of the original meaning is lost. Just as there was when it was translated to English. Thus the reason that Joseph Smith felt that it was important to re-translate the parts that were corrupted (Actually he was directed to re-translate the scriptures). It takes very little time and concentration to learn how to read and to understand the scriptures in the old English. I believe that was one of the first steps in the current dilution process. Satan is always looking for ways to repackage his schemes to turn us away from the truth and or the straight and narrow path. That path is hard enough to stay on without the constant distractions from Satan and those who wittingly or unwittingly are led to serve him by diluting the truth.
Now I understand that liberal evangelicals are purposefully promoting a new, or at least a repackaged version of Christianity. According to their new version of Christianity, the authority of the scriptures are no longer important. Their scheme had several steps starting with the conversion of the scriptures to a modern script from the old English, and now the next step in their plan, is to convince youth that the scriptures are not that important at all. Now, as a direct result, there appears to be a mass exodus of young people from the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Satan is not a myth as the world would have us believe. Though he is not visible to us does not mean that he is not present and just as real as those of us who have physical bodies. The same for those who chose to follow him at the time of the War in Heaven (Revelation 12); they are real. Just as we were no more “less real” before we obtained our physical bodies and were sent to earth. That spirit body was invisible in the pre-earth sphere, but it is now a part of our physical bodies. The spirits that chose to follow Satan were real then and are real now. Just as real as we were before we obtained our physical bodies through the birth process. Satan is real, and he always has been and always will be working hard to dilute the truth unceasingly. He will encourage as many schemes as he can devise to turn youth and adults from believing in the Savior, their Savior. Protestant sects, especially from the Bible Belt have always used the King James Bible as a way of criticizing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints doctrine because we call the Book of Mormon scripture as well. They have used a particular scripture near the end of the bible that said in effect that “anyone who adds to or takes away from this book will be accursed.” The problem with that scripture is that there are many books that have knowingly been lost from the scriptures as currently constituted. If these books were found, like they have found the Dead Sea Scrolls, they would be added without question.
Now if the authority of the scriptures does become less important to them, and if they do, in fact, want to change direction, they will have nothing at all to criticize the Church for. It is a very interesting world we live in. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with its armies of young missionaries will eventually be the anchor of Christianity in this world. We are all the Father’s children, and when the world becomes so corrupt that even the Christian churches turn their backs on the Holy Bible. That will be the time that there will again be a famine for the truth. People will hunger and thirst after righteousness, seeking for an anchor, something in their lives that has eternal meaning and fulfillment for them. I can see The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints growing at a phenomenal rate in the not too distant future.
